It's thanks to the chemical elements present in the earth at the time of the crystal formation, that we have the many vibrant colours and shades of Sapphires that we do, such as blue, pink, yellow, violet, green and orange. This means that in their ‘pure’ state of aluminium oxide they are completely colourless. These vibrant stones are part of the mineral family Corundum and are allochromatic gemstones.
